Why “Man’s Search for Meaning” Has Become My Favorite Read

On any particular day, I’ll enjoy a good novel or book that fascinates me. Learning from others to gain a better understanding of life and the world around me is something that alters the perspective and improves the search for purpose. One of the books that has profoundly impacted me is Victor Frankl’s “Man’s Search for Meaning”.

Personal Attachment

One of the biggest issues that Frankl discusses in this novel is that suffering is an inevitable part of life. By utilizing examples from his own experiences, and those of his patients, he has opened my eyes and helped me understand that we are more than capable of how we choose to take on challenges that come our way. Even when life tends to deviate from the path we set out towards initially, we can always remind ourselves that by keeping a positive outlook, there’s more to life than just battling adversity day-in and day-out.

What is Our Purpose?

One important thing to keep in mind is the importance of figuring out what is meaningful in this life. What one may find purposeful may not be the same as what someone else finds it as, but taking the time to understand this can be potentially life-changing. Rather than searching for what gives us sole pleasure, finding a sense of purpose in our lives can turn out to be more satisfying in nature. With that being said, I tend to keep this in mind, no matter the circumstances that are laid out in front of me. This mentality keeps me focused and ready to take on the tasks ahead.
